March is not only just around the corner... it's also International Women's Month. Many of our clients have been asking us for events and activities to help them pay homage to inspiring women leaders — whether globally or within their own companies. Looking for ideas? Dive in!
Many companies want to celebrate and honor the women who have been breaking barriers, glass ceilings, and stereotypes. But how can you do that over Zoom and when everyone is working from home? Here are 3 great ideas to get you started!
If your company values diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), providing Women's Month programming is pretty darn important. So, we recommend really getting into it by highlighting and amplifying women's voices and really listening to their stories.
Your company could host a weekly "lunch and learn" discussions with prominent women business leaders in your industry or community. Many of them would love the opportunity to share their story, grow their network, and improve empathy and understanding with a new audience.
Another great option is a moderated panel discussion featuring women within your company, inviting them to share their professional journey, lessons, and hopes or aspirations. This kind of programming allows your company to learn from and connect on a personal level with your own teammates. It also helps women at your company gain visibility, feel valued, and build meaningful professional relationships across the company.
Looking for something fun AND meaningful, to help your team learn about and celebrate some inspiring women? How about a game of Women's Month trivia?
Divide your participants into teams and let's get quizzical! This is a fun, engaging, and interactive way to spotlight incredible women of today, yesterday, and tomorrow and share key facts about women's history. People may get so wrapped up in the fun and healthy competition that they won't even know they're learning! Now that's a huge win!
Okay, hear us out... I know that speed networking may sound like NOT a women's month kind of activity. But some of the most incredible, inspiring women ALREADY WORK WITH YOU. You know them, even if you don't know you know them. They're just sitting there, answering emails, creating budgets, and leading meetings. Honestly, you might even be one of them.
But it's really hard to understand how amazing and dynamic your own people are if you don't take the time to know them personally. So with a speed networking game (we created one called 52 Connections), you can learn about them as people, and not just coworkers. So, challenge your team to learn about 5 women at the company with whom they don't interact regularly.
This is really just scratching the surface, but we have plenty more ideas where those came from! You've got two weeks until March kicks off, but that's plenty of time to rally the team and do something special.
