Don't Kid Yourself! Virtual Connections are Real Connections

Plenty of companies have held off as long as they could, delaying from planning company events, in hopes that the whole team would be back together in the office soon...

But then the Delta variant arrived. So, now it's time to face facts. Virtual events foster virtual connection. And in today's workplace, virtual connections are every bit as real as in-person.

For many of us, the way we're working and conducting business has fundamentally changed in the last year. We're working remotely from our homes—full-time or hybrid—and have adapted to these changes as best we could. We spend more time on instant messaging when we used to just stop by someone's desk. We shifted in-person meetings to Zoom.

We've tried and succeeded in making remote work just as productive—if not more so!—as working in the office.

So, what is the hesitancy when it comes to virtual events?

The truth of the matter is that your new hires need to meet the team and develop personal connections and relationships. Your staff still needs the time and space to enjoy each other's company, not exclusively discussing work. You should still be celebrating milestones and honoring traditions. All of these occasions are just as important now as ever.

Just as the workplace has changed, so have events.

And we've got good news for the skeptics. With the right event, tailored to your team's size, interests, and goals, you can get just as much value from a virtual event as you can from something in-person. You can have just as much fun, meet just as many people, and build just as strong of connections. You just need to be open to the experience and intentional about the event you choose.

Take, for example, one of our new offerings: 52 Connections.

With 52 Connections, we facilitate a speed-networking style connection activity, where employees are broken into smaller groups to answer fun prompt questions before they bop into a new group, meeting new colleagues and making new connections. It's high energy, high intimacy, and totally seamless!

This is the kind of activity that translates perfectly for building virtual connections. And trust us, it has a lasting impact on fostering closer ties for employees within your company.

There are so many events and activities just like 52 Connections, which truly help your team build that same company culture, and the same strong connections that they'd have in office. If we've proven that working remotely can be just as effective, why can't virtual events???
