Why Bowling is One of the Best Company Holiday Party Ideas

Whether it be bowling, a murder mystery, or musical bingo, ZogCulture has you covered for your company's seasonal parties and in-person events!

Okay, so it’s late October, and you’re getting down to brass tacks on your company holiday party. You want it to feel special. You want your employees to be excited about it. You want to celebrate a great year with a night that is memorable and fun to keep them feeling engaged and valued.

And I know this is going to sound crazy, but bowling is the answer.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Bowling doesn’t always have the best reputation. But we’re here to dismantle your beliefs.

Here are 5 reasons why bowling is actually one of the best company holiday party ideas.

1. Bowling appeals to ALL ages.

It doesn’t matter if your employees are 20 or 60 years old, bowling appeals to every generation. For those born in the '50s or '60s, bowling was at the core of their weekend plans. In fact, the number of bowling alleys in America nearly doubled from 1955 to 1963.

But don’t get it twisted. Because bowling is coming back in style for Gen Z or Gen Xers, too! According to Thrive, last year around 21 percent of 18 to 29-year-olds enjoyed bowling. Think of how cool those vintage bowling shots are for sharing on Insta (more on that later), and how fun it is to share in laughs and high fives with your friends at work. Some things never go out of style.

2. Bowling has a low barrier of entry.

There are some sports that require technical skill to have fun or be successful. For example, to play hockey, you need to know how to skate. Bowling, however, is much easier. You don’t need any formal training, and anyone can take a turn. Whether you have perfect form or if you bowl with two hands between your legs, it’s easy for just about everyone to play!

3. Bowling parties happen rain or shine.

When it comes to event planning, there are many aspects one can control such as the food options, the bar choices, or the music played. But WEATHER is, unfortunately, not something we can control. The good news is when you plan a company party at a bowling alley, weather will not get in the way of a good time. It’s one less factor you need to worry about.

4. You’ll be sure to get instagrammable photos.

Have you ever seen a picture from a bowling alley you didn’t like? It’s an authentic vintage photo opp, every single time. Just picture it: funky shoes, strobe lights, wood flooring, and perfectly arranged pins in the background. Just pick a shiny, colorful ball and pose!

5. There’s more to do than just bowl.

Modern bowling alleys have adjusted with the times, providing a much fuller entertainment experience. In addition to offering dozens of lanes for bowling, they’ve become a bar and arcade, too. But if food, drink, and games aren’t enough to entice you, don’t forget the DJ! Ping pong! Karaoke! Billiards! There’s something for everyone, between frames, after games, and throughout the night.
